In addition, all TAQS members strive to promote Taiwan textile art as well as international cultural exchanges. Establishing a Quilt Art Museum, collecting masterpieces, doing researches, publishing quilt art books, and facilitating women’s participation in community cultural industries are our long-term missions.
Our society is made up of quilt artists or enthusiasts who love quilt. The spirit of TAQS: With the spirit of ants, all “ant” members act in team works. Ants persist on doing “right” things only and insist on not wasting any resources. Sharing with each other, disseminating art seeds and developing TAQS as a whole are also what we devoted to.
The origin of the“Ant” naming:
Quilt beginners start a series of art creation with learning how to use thread and needle. Ants are believed to have been in existence in Mid-Cretaceous Period, about 800 millions years ago. We took “Ant” as our token to represent the long-standing history of quilt art. Ants are organized and cooperative. They go out to seek food in groups, never in solitary. Ants always know their place and do not cause chaos. In addition, the distance of an ant’s single step is the same as the standard stitch interval.
